GMC revising warrenty
Hear a rumour today from the local Bunnings tool shop.
GMC are about to change their warrenty details.
Reason being that too many people are buying a tool taking it home using it and then returning it for a refund.
He didn't know what the new warrenty would be but it appears that the 30 days return section may be going. Has anyone heard anything similar?

I haven't heard anything about it, but they'll lose some customers. The warranty was a major attraction.

I havent heard anything about that but it may be true. but lets face it most of the gmc range arent really expensive, and if its any good why take it back?
i suppose there are those who use it as the worlds cheapest 28 day hire shop but you have to fill out the form with your name etc when you return something so you would soon become known at all the local gmc outlets if you do it too often.

Yep, i heard it a few weeks ago from one of the larger tool suppliers in Braeside who just had a sale and they said it was more than a rumor

Yes GMC are altering their warranty by removing the 30 day satisfaction warranty but so will all power tool suppliers that have this warranty and are in Bunnings. The pressure was put on all suppliers by the big green giant as the return rate for "weekend hire" was escalating out of control.
GMC will still be handling any initial satisfaction problems through their 777 Helpline and at the end of the day will always try and find a solution to the end users issues/problems.

that was definitly a strong point that attracted me to GMC. This way i am not worried about if i am not happy with its performance after i got it home.
I think Bunnings have there own 7 day satifaction guarantee policy anyway.

I reckon that you would need the hide of Ned Kelly to take advantage of the 28day no cost hire. But then come to think of it, he was an Ozie to. Perhaps those the did that had Ned as a middle name.

Eagle - do we know when that is going to be instigated?
Just another example of cretins abusing and ruining a system designed to be customer friendly.
I don't think it will be too detrimental for 'real' sales- the 2 year warranty is the much larger attraction."Clear, Ease Springs"

it has already started on some of our product but will take quite some time to come into full effect with old packaging taking some time to sell through.
We will still deal with satisfaction (30 day) issues direct with the end user via our helpline.
Hope this helps,
Eagle
