Green Makita?

Hi all,
In the last few weeks, I've seen a couple of Bunnings with piles of green Makita corded drills (and from what I remember, quite cheap).

When I had a closer look, I noticed that they weren't finished as well as most Makita tools, and coupled with the colour (Hitachi green instead of Makita teal), it makes we wonder - do Bunnings have a big stash of knock-off Makita drills??!!

Has anyone else seen these? Should I get one?

By the way, I got a Maktec circular saw - greatest $100 saw I ever bought.

I saw some the other day at Bunnings. I assumed that they had given up on the Maktec stuff and instead gone with the green colour and the Makita brand name to denote their DIY range in much the same way Bosch differentiates its DIY and professional brands through the use of colour (ie. Bosch green and blue). I don't know if this is the situation or not but it would make sense. With the Maktec stuff they were starting from scratch building a reputation for the brand. Probably a lot of people didn't even know Maktec was/is made by Makita. If they ditch the Maktec brand, and go with Makita green instead, they can capitalise on the already successful Makita brand name through a simple brand extension.

I saw the same drill, about $60 I think. After reading this post http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ghlight=maktec a while ago, I checked where the wrong colour Makita was made and it was made in China, same as Maktec is/was.

Presumably it's the same components, does it matter where it was put together ?
