    Default One handed chucks...

Am currently dreaming my way thru all the fathers day catalogs, with a view to buying a cordless drill. Am tossing up between makita and bosch lithium battery job, and triton.

Can anyone tell me if they all have one handed chucks?

    Thanks in advance
    JH

Do you mean "keyless" chucks? Still takes both hands for proper tightening.

My Bosch has a keyless chuck which actually locks into place when the drill is stopped - so I can in fact use only one hand if I wish to do so to do it up tight - possibly bad practice but usually I just trigger the drill and hold the chuck until it clenches and then give it an extra twist by hand - doesn't really do it up any tighter but is just a security thing I guess.

    Regards,
    Bob

I have an 18volt DeWalt that has a 13mm One Handed Chuck. The shaft locks when the drill is motionless. Have never had it come loose or let a drill bit slip.

I have a Bosch that has the one handed keyless chuck, not essential but 'tis convenient.

Nice to know that shaft locks are available. Thanks for correcting my ignorance. This'll be a major factor in my next purchase.
