Help needed
Ok the belt on my power planer has disintegrated.
I have a Towa LS120 (92mm) planer.
Have searched and the only web site (American) said that there are no belts (no longer stocked) for this planer.
Does anyone know of someone that stocks a belt for this one or what belt could be used as a replacement or has anyone got a spare one.

Steve I found a very good mob over at Blacktown who can make belts to suit relatively cheap. Rydell Industrial - HOME
A mate who required a belt for something recently went and bought a decent sized O ring which suited his needs.

I needed a part for a Metabo planer and everywhere I looked on the net said it was unavailable, as a last resort and not holding out much hope I called into Alltools near my place.
They took the model number down and rung me a few days later to say that they could get the part, I've since received it and the planer is back to normal.
What I'm saying is that I'd try a tool specialist that does repairs first up.

1970's?????????????
I really don't fancy your chances with that one, but if you want to call Alltools the number is:
(03) 9315 2077.
Your best chance might be to measure the belt and go into a repair shop and see if they've got some old stock laying around, there can't be that much difference between models, maybe a Makita belt might even fit.
Just as a guide, I was quoted $62 for a belt for my Metabo, which I passed on, if the belt eventually gives up I'll buy a new planer.
Power tool spares are a huge rip off.
Good luck with it, I wish I could be of more help.

I used to use the following company for power transmission belts that were a bit out of the ordinary when purchasing parts for packaging machinery -
PIES Australia
Look at the synchronous belt section of their website, there is information regarding how to measure your belt.
Not sure if they deal with the general public, or do mail order, but at least they should be able to give you the name of one of their distributors.
The other alternative is to try engineers supply companies, bearing companies or power transmission companies in your area. There is an engineering supply / power transmission company on Fairford Road Padstow, on the corner of about one street before you get to the M5 expressway coming from the Menai area, I can't find the name of the company at the moment, I think it is something like "Ames Agency".
Hope this eventually helps you out.

A follow up on this.
I was having a look around the net to try and source a belt for my planer at better than the ridiculous price I was quoted and came on this site:
solenttools.co.uk
It looks as though they can supply replacements for virtually any belt.
I emailed them and received this reply:
"We don't have a match for this item but we can match from a sample.
We may be able to match from a picture with exact sizes and dimensions but a sample is prefered.
Any numbers on the old belt?
Please send a sample to
Solent Tools Limited
Unit 009
Solent Business Centre
Millbrook Road West
Southampton
So15 0hw
Tel 023 8057 8057
Please make sure you use a jiffy bag, check postage at post office and send recorded delivery."
The prices for most of the planer belts on their web site were about £10 each, not sure of the postage charges but they shouldn't be that high for a small belt.
Hope this helps.

Well a big thank you to all for your input and help. Finally ended up with a lead that gave me a product code.
Today arrived 3 belts for my planer. Yes they fit and are the same if not better than the original.
Got the belts from this mob in the UK.
