Need help - Holz Her 2162 Derby blade won't lock in
Hey team,
I've inherited an old Holz Her 2162 Derby 520w Jigsaw and it's mechanically quite sound, however I can't get the blade to lock into place. As far as I can tell you just slide the blade into the housing at 90 degrees then turn it to be flush with the blade guide roller. Then I pull it down and it secures it from pivoting in the housing, except nothing is holding it down, so as soon as it's pushed back up it begins to pivot and come loose. Am I missing a piece? Am I doing something wrong? Anyone have this saw or know where I can find a manual?
Many thanks,
Dylan

Jigsaw at work has a similar way of inserting the blade, but there is a screw that is accessed from the top of the tool with a long bladed screwdriver.
See if that helps, if not some images of blades and the machine including the top and both sides may help.

Seconds before sending in this post, i saw that you already found the solution, but i decided to send it anyway. Maybe others may benefit from it, too.
So, yes indeed, there is a hole on top of the front part of the 2162's handle. You insert a long and thin screwdriver into it to reach a securing screw deep inside. As change will have it, there is a machine of this type running on Ebay Germany now (a 2160, that's a 2162 without electronic speed control, but otherwise identical), showing the combined long screwdriver (blade fixture) and Allen-key type (sole adjustment) tool that originally came with this jig saw model:
Stichsäge Holz Her 2160 Derby | eBay
A Bosch jig saw screwdriver may be the ticket for you. The high-end part of the Derby line featured a professional jig saw model that resembled the Blue bosch saws of the day. These models came with an identical screwdriver, which was even ordered from the same hand tool factory (with an orange nylon grip for the Holz Her and a black one for the Bosch). Ask a Bosch dealer if it will fit or borrow such a screwdriver from a Bosch owner, before ordering one, if you want to be absolutely sure. You could also take the saw with you to a Bosch spare parts salespoint, to have it checked out for you on the spot.
If this still doesn't work, check if the screw has dropped out and gone missing. In that case, a Bosch equivalent may fit (all Holz Her spare parts have gone out of stock more than a decade ago, leaving us with sporadic lucky strikes on Ebay and such). Again, check before ordering. Feel free to contact me for replacement instructions.
If the screw is still present and won't budge, its head slit may have been pried or broken off due to forcefull tightening or loosening, rendering the screwdriver powerless to obtain any grip. As a last suggestion, do also check the blade insertion end of the drive rod. Is it still round and smooth or rather torn or bent out of shape? This could cause bajonet play, which also impairs proper blade fixture.
good luck and greetings
gerhard

Thanks for the detailed response Gerhard. I still have the original screwdriver / allen key combo it came with, so I'm all set! Good to know that Bosch is similar though, just in case... And good tip about ebay Germany for other parts if need be. Much appreciated.

The jigsaw at work is a Bosch which is kept in a box. The screwdriver (non original) is kept in the box.
