Default Air Compressor - quick connect lubricant

    HI there,

The quick connector is sticking so when you unplug the hose it stays open and emptys the air tank. I have pulled it apart and de-gunked it and the spring is still a bit slow, what can I use to lubricate? It is not used for spray painting.

    Cheers.

Proberly gunked up by oil carry over try soaking in turps to break down any oil residue left and use a small brush to throughly clean the insides, make sure it is very dry and clean then a bit of wd 40 allow to dry and reassemble

    Clean
BUT not with High Pressure Water Blaster which is Here abouts
    then
I'd go for one of the 'DRY Lubricants'
CRC Dry Glide or the equivalent.

    Default Thank You

It is now much quicker to close.

It was a connector before the water seperator so there was rusty stuff on the metal and green stuff around the brass bits.

    Cheers.

It was only a year old, to young to die.

I only lubricated to make up for the fact that I washed away any lubricant.

If it is a cheap connector, just throw it out and buy a new one, these cheap conectors that are being sold by certain hardware chains and auto parts chains are rubbish and not worth the money you pay for them.

And they hurt if they let go... with enough pressure they can kill!
Beware of those made from pot metal, small fittings should be made from machined steel or brass.
