Hitachi Slide Compound Saw - C8FB2
About 3 years ago I purchased a Hitachi slide compound saw. I did a very small job and then lent it to my son in law who then passed it on to my son in the country. I am visiting my son and notice that the fence on the left hand side is straight on the left and then curves towards the blade. This seems odd but there is no indication that the saw has been dropped.
Can anyone throw any light on this, please?
Regards
Glenn

Perhaps a bit of wood was forced into the fence by the blade if a cut was started without the wood being correctly placed.
It should be correctable by adding a wood face to the fence. You will loose a bit of cutting width but it is a small price to pay. Post a pic of the damage and we would be more able to say for sure.
The moral of the story is don't lend tools to people who don't know how to use them.

If your saw has a guard that doesn't completely cover the blade at the rest position then it's your lucky day. It's probable it's one of the models they have a recall on. Call Hitachi to check. They have been doing a recall with swap new for old, no questions, no fee.
Cheers
