    Default impact drill

Hi all can anyone reccomend a moderately priced and good quality 240v 2sp impact drill/driver for handyman use. I'm looking around the $150-200 mark. Thank you

Hi NGK, I was in the same position a few weeks back,my Makita died and I needed a drill quick so after reading some good reports here on Ozito sold at Bunnings I got one for $31.00 its been in constant use since, used to construct an outdoor area and deck, if it dies tomorrow, no loss.
I was going to get another Makita, but for the price I can buy 7 or 8 Ozito,s for the same money,I'll wait till the Ozito dies and then see how we go...Peter
You might not believe this but the drills that come with it are not to bad.

As much as I hate Ozito, they have been recommended by a number of forumites as value for money. They cost around $99 from memory and I think the better one is metal cased.

Not my recommendation, just passing it along is all.

    Thumbs up

I got one of the $69 Ozito Rotary Hammers that have been mentioned in another thread.
Ripped up about 5 sq M of slate tiles & the glue(?) one evening after dinner. 50 times faster than doing it by hand with a bolster.
    Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

There is a deal on with the Bosch green 1000 watt hammer/drill with dust sucker - $120 at Pauls MidCity Hardware in Sydney, based on previous form, it should show up at Bunnings in a week or two - possibly even before Xmas.

I had a shortish (7m long) fence to make on top of a stepped limestone retaining wall. The limestone is a bit too porous to hold bolts firmly so I decided to cut 100 x 100 x 300 deep mm holes and cement galvanized pole stirrups into the top of the wall. After pricing the hire of a large impact drill/small jack hammer ($60 - $85!) I decided to buy one of those Ozito's instead. I used it to drill a couple of dozen 300 mm long holes and then used the impact only bits to chisel out the 100 x 100 mm holes. IT did this very easily I did it all for the cost of hire and now have a useful impact drill/jack hammer that even if it dies tomorrow doesn't owe me a thing.

    Cheers

Super Cheap Auto have one in their latest cattledog for $57.99, including about 5 bits!
Won't be long before we get them free with a packet of Cornflakes.

Was at Bunnies this morning and they had B&D impact drills for $31.
I bought one at a similar price about 12 months ago and it works well and hasn't baulked at 12mm masonary bits.
    Cheers
