Incra Mitre Gauge for TSC10-HB
Amazon is doing a special on this Incra 2000/27 at $US127. Is this the total solution or is there a more up-market model? It would replace the standard mitre gauge on my TSC10-HB which I now concede is less than an objet d'art (not the saw; that is clearly The Machine ). I'm going to be in the US in a few weeks so I can avoid freight (thank you Qantas - 32 Kgs is good! No Bob, I won't be going through Charlotte...). Any issues? Any advice?

I've got the 1000SE on my 10HB. Absolutely love it. Might check the Amazon price on that, see if you can justify going one better than the 27.

I have the bog standard Incra gauge on my 10HB (v27?). It's great.

The V27 is only $130 in Oz, why cart one back from the US and pay $US127/S$A158
There is a 1000SE on Ebay for a starting bid of $200

Well, if you want to go upmarket, I have the 3000SE with flip stop and Mitre Express sled. Even without the sled, you will be sorry if you don't purchase one of the SE (extended fence) versions, as they greatly expand your cross-cut range. I have absolutely quit measuring anything cut with the Incra. Just calibrate the tapes, set the stop block and dead accurate every time.
You sure you're not coming though Charlotte?Cheers,
Bob

Thanks for that advice re SE. I do want the extended fence and I'm also interested in the bar length - want to cut a bit wider if possible.
Charlotte... well, to be honest, I'm not sure... Might be an involuntary thing.... I wouldn't offend you if I say I hope not! One wet Sunday in Charlotte will be enough for a while.1st in Woodwork (1961)

So, it looks like the 2000 has a longer bar and a decent fence and stop... for $US127. Whereas the 3000/SE is very much up market - more than $A500. Mmmmmmm 2000 is looking good. Thanks for all the feedback guys. Guess I'll have it shipped to Charlotte and hope the flight is diverted (again) so I can pick it up.

Just to be clear, the extended fence (bar), which is denoted by the SE designation, is available on the 1000, 2000, or 3000. That is what I suggested you must have, regardless of the model. The difference between the 2000 and 3000 is only in the number of positive mitre angle stops (the 3000 has positive stops every 1/2 degree). Unless you cut an extraordinary amount of complex mitres, the 2000SE will be the bee's knees.
Cheers,
Bob

I should be working! But I just found this extract from a review of the 3000:
"The 3000 is an upgrade from the 2000 in that the miter guage swings in both directions while the 2000 need to be taken aprt and reassembled if miters in the other direction are require..."
That is pretty compelling if it is correct. I see the 3000/27 is $178 at Amazon. Why do I always have to trade up and up?1st in Woodwork (1961)

Murray, this is a late contribution and FWIW I read several reviews of mitre gauges/fences and opted for the Kreg. I had been predisposed to the Incra because of its reputation.

Thanks for suggesting the Kreg. I saw it in the Carbatec catalogue and didn't like the curved stops or clamps/whatever in the picture but I followed up on Amazon and read the reviews. It comes out pretty well - except for one reviewer unhappy with the bar (aluminium, not steel) flexing.
This discussion has helped me figure out what I want: Primarily, I want to be able to cross-cut up to 600mm/24" accurately. I want to be able to swing the mitre gauge left and right 45 degrees easily and swop from the left slot to the right without doing anything more than adjusting the fence so it doesn't get cut in half! It looks like there is nothing on the market, except the Incre 5000 sled, that will get me the 24" width. The Incra 2000 is not designed to swing left and right. The 3000 seems to have a longer bar but a lot of the bar length is burned with the gauge fixture.... The Kreg seems a bit short on slot-adjusting screws (5 v 6 or 8).
I need to get home and stare at the saw for a while before I decide what to do. I'll let you know. Thanks again everyone.1st in Woodwork (1961)
