Kreg Portable Crosscut
Has anyone got one of these?
Kreg Portable Crosscut : Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement
I thought it an excellent idea and bought one from Carbatec NZ. The only problem is that the extendable guide arm is not quite long enough for the Bosch GKS 18V 68GC saw that I want to use it with. I can see that it comes apart with four screws, and I am thinking that I can do that and make a longer guide arm, but I don't know that I can get it back together again. I wonder if anyone else has tried this?
[EDIT] Looking at the above video thumbnail, I am wondering if it would be simpler to add an extension to the arm? I am only about 2mm short.

If it were me I'd email kreg. They offer remarkable customer service and respondents to technical questions are very knowledgeable.
I only have the small pocket hole thing but I asked about another piece of equipment about 6 months ago. I got a quick and informative response.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

It's been a few days and I've not heard anything from Kreg, so I made a simple mod to extend the guide arm. When I noticed the web reinforcement it seemed like an ideal way to locate an extension that slots into the recess. I'll probably use some Gorilla Grip and leave it at that. I can never resist putting finish on all surfaces, including those that need gluing, so fingers crossed it holds.
