    Post Leigh D4 Jig

I have been thinking about getting one of these for a while now and after the suprise i got from the tax man today i will have plenty to go out and buy it.

Does anyone have any experience with this jig and is it as bad to setup as people make out.

I am conteplating also getting the Isoloc and the mortise and tenon templates for it also.

Currently i am using the Gifkins jig but would like the extra benifits the Leigh jig has to offer.

Your help on this would be much appreciared
    Cheers
    John

    Cool

johnna, given that you have a good accountant who has you in the good books then your consideration for a Leigh D4 jig will require further contemplation on your part.

Firstly lets get the misapprehension of the set-up out of the way and that is simply that ...to take time to read the accompanying manual thoroughly ..because it is thorough and things should fall into place if you take your time.

It will also require on your part to have a good look around on prices particularly if you have access to a large city as the prices will be reasonably competitive and after you have done that give MIK International a call in Adelaide or enquire at their website for they are the Australian importers and may do you a good price if you ask to speak to Michael(Head Honcho)given that you may well want a package deal with templates thrown in.

Or and this is probably your best choice if you have the patience anmd that is to wait for the Melbourne WW show or a woodshow near you whereby you will certainly get a good deal as you can approach Michael personally at his stand...he is always accommodating moreover with a cash sale which will leave you with dollars in your pocket.

Finally with this apparatus in your shop and accompanying templates your options are ALMOST limitless.
There are some router cutters that come with the jig and some of the templates ...but I consider the sets from CT or Carba-tec to be superior in holding a keen edge.Leigh have their bits made in Taiwan ...I believe and I am dubious of the quality.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers
