Default Had a little play with...

The new acquisition for the workshop...

It should make morticing a little easier! Thanks to Nick up at Mudjimba

The darkside still rules but I don't mind a little deviation every now & then.

It's either a mortiser or a multirouter. Impressive eiher way.

    Major,
You may claim to be devoted to the forces of Darkness, but in fact your workshop is by far the most Enlightened that I have ever seen, outside a furniture factory. With a wide drum sander, an 8" jointer, heavy-duty 15" thicknesser, a sliding-table saw, and now a slot-morticer, you are the envy of us would-be Light-siders. OK, you may have a set of fancy chisels, and a few high-end planes, but we all know where the real work gets done - on those machines

I am interested to know how easy it is to precisely position mortices with your machine.

    Hi Rocker,

Ya gotta come down & have a play with it!
It's dead easy to set the lateral stops. The longitudinal stop is a little more complicated to setup but still not that hard. To set all 3 stops I'd say about 2 - 3 mins for the first time round for me. It can only get quicker with a bit of practice!
I'm looking foward to doing a prototype chair from a design I've seen once.

Honest, I do cut some mortices by hand but it's not my favourite time in the shed. Without good darkside skills it's hard to appreciate the lightside fully.
    Cheers

Is this to celebrate a certain resignation?
Love it. Jealousy is an ugly emotion that is starting to suit me.

That's not a chain, it's a piece of braided cable or rope, Twodogs

    Nice machine Major.

I was gonna try to make a multirouter one day. but havent put much thought into it. Maybe some one will build one first so I can just copy it. Sturdee?

Yeah, Sturdee, get off your butt, and show us all how to make a muti-router.

If the Major will send his down to me for a while I'll happily look at it and do some reverse engineering.

And if I can't make a copy I'll just keep his instead.

I'll let Sturdee come up here & take as many measurements as he wants, he can take photo's as well!!

As to taking it away, sure thing, all he has to do is carry it home on his back....
