bushings for saw blade
hello all,
i have replaced my drop saw blade (for my hitachi) and bought what i thought was the right bushing for it (fitted well in the shop) however the thickness of the bushing isnt right. What i mean is that the old blade sat on the bushing and was clamped together by a reverse threaded screw sadwiched between two circular fixtures with straight parts which slide onto the arbor to ensure the blade didnt slip. The bushing brand i bought was vermont american, which was roughly 1.5 mm does anyone know where i can find a 2.5 mm one, prefereably in SA? thankyou very much.

Unless the blade stabilisers (the large washer thingummys either side of the blade) are recessed it doesn't matter that the arbor bush is thinner than the blade. The bush merely centres the blade while the stabilisers hold it in place. However if the stabilisers are recessed the bush could move along the shaft into the recess, possibly allowing the blade to move(if the retaining nut/screw is loose enough so the stabilisers don't exert sufficient pressure). If this is the case you should be able to put a second or even third bush onto the shaft. All fixed!
