well, this is a strange one.
went to charge the battery yesterday and the charger wouldnt allow it, got the flashing lights, even an hour later.
pretty much wrote it off, and put it in the shed. Today, i grabbed the battery for a "just one last check before i throw it" and it charged up, no problems.
so its got me buggered whats going on.

Yes Li-ion has a shelf life....most manufacturers will put a code or the manufactured date on them. Always look out for "on sale" batteries, as they usually are the ones that have been in storage.Quote:

How are you finding the Generic Batteries after a bit more extended use? I've noticed power-battery.com.au sell the Makita B1830 replacement $46 where as the Hitachi/Milwaukee range arn't any cheaper then OEM.Quote:

i am renovating or doing stuff at home, so the batteries are constantly being drained or charged, not used one day and stored for the rest of the week.
This is probably an obvious question but I don't know the answer.
I have an 18v Makita cordless Li-ion drill (BDF453) which came with two 1.3Ah batteries (one of which has since died). Can I replace them with with the 3 or 4Ah generic batteries and will my existing Li-ion charger charge them?
Sorry for the hijack but I'm guessing others are in a similar position and it probably makes sense to have the question answered in here rather than start a new thread.

I think I may have had a weird episode like that a couple of months ago. It slipped my mind to report it here because it was quickly rectified.
Today I bought a Makita 1830, 18v 3Ah battery from Bunnings (Altona, Victoria) for $77. Normal price is $99.
Not sure why the price reduction but I thought it too good to pass up.
