    Default Makita 9/4 Blade wobble.

Got an old Makita 9/4. Bout 15 yrs old. Mounted in my MK3 Triton bench.
I can wobble a newly fitted sharpened blade only to notice
variance of O to 2.5 mm. Blade is TIGHTLY fitted too! Ofcourse!

Variance is gives me SQ to table for about one 3rd of rotation ( between teeth ) then shes goes outta whack and then comes back in. I've marked the blade to see where and when.

Q? Get a new saw? Fix it? How? Don't bother?

    Cheers.

Default wobble in blade of makita power saw.

the easiest place to start is to put a new saw blade on the saw and without the power connected rotate the blade by hand to see if the blade runs true.

just sharpening a blade wont tell you if the old blade is ok in its trueness.

your power saw has done a lot of hard rough work by the sound of it and is highly likely to be damaged in the shaft''bent, twisted.

also check the collars that hold the blade to the saw shaft for trueness.lloyd

    Forgot to mention.

I did rotate blade with reliable SQ aside to it. I /3rd blade comes into SQ. Rest is out.
    Sounds like shaft is stuffed.

A few years ago I had wobble on the blade of a makita about same age as yours. The slackness could be felt.(with saw unpluged of course) I went to a place that sold bearings and for about $10 replaced the shaft bearing. Of course if it is the shaft then this wont help.

It could just as easily be showing that the blade is bent. Put another blade in it and check it again, that's the easiest thing to do.
