    Default Makita BO3710 sander issues

    Hi people,
My workmates (latest model I think) orbital sander has been giving him grief.
The clamps dont hold the sandpaper in and continues to slip out while sanding.

We have been 'doubling up' the paper on each ends so the clips have something fatter to grab onto but because he uses the sander all the time, that method is not too practical.

He had even bought a new set of clips and fitted them but they too failed.

The screws on the top are tightened but still have play. When clips are clamped down, the black metal part still wiggles.

am wandering if anyone else has had this problem or have rigged up a more practical solution.

    cheers everyone

I've not had that problem, but an answer is that the sandpaper man has stick on velcro backing, that will get around that problem.

if doubling up seems to work how about glue a slither of snadpaper or the like onto either the clamping mechanism or the sander plate to take up the slack.

It should not be the solution but it sounds like it will work.

Is it possible that the clamps have somehow been bent and can be re-bent to what could seemingly be the original shape?
