Makita LS1013 SCMS - Adjusting Mitre Angle - Missing detent mechanism
I recently purchased a well used LS1013 with a brand new Makita Blue 60T Blade from a seller on Gumtree. It cuts smooth as butter, no tear-out on laminate boards even though the kerf board has been hacked to shreds ($14.90 for each half + $11 postage on eBay...OUCH!).
Unfortunately I didn't realise when I was buying but the saw is missing the lever/mechanism to lock into the mitre detents. I've been trying to figure out what parts are missing using the schematic here: Makita LS1013 parts breakdown on ToolPartsDirect.com Some kind of rod and spring with a few lock nuts by the looks of things. I don't suppose anyone could take a photo of the underside of their saw so that I could make a comparison?
Even if I manage to acquire the missing parts, should I expect much slop using the detents? I imagine the notches on the undercarriage would wear with age causing inaccuracy? What is a more accurate way of dialling in a perfect 0deg cut? I have a digital angle gauge for measuring the bevel but I'm not sure what I need to measure and align for mitres?
Thanks in advance.Michael

I have a cheap 10" Ryobi slider that I bought for framing reno's a few years ago and it has very poor mitre engagement slots. I got over the problem by ignoring the detents and used a digital angle rule from Carbatec and locking the saw by hand. If you havn't got one I highly recommend them because they are useful for heaps of angle checks in the workshop.

Thanks safari, a digital angle rule sounds like the right tool for the job, will definitely add one to my arsenal.

Dinosour
Cray-
i have recently just done that repair. The detents have held up well, ie locks into place with minimal to nil slop.
if you send me a pm with contact details will give you all the info and pic's if required.
