Makita LS1212
I have just bought a Makita SCMS LS1212 (12" blade). Yay! new toy . It comes with a general purpose blade but I would like to buy a blade to give smooth results. Can anyone tell me if a 100 tooth blade would be fine enough and also what are the names of some good blade makers?
Any help gratefully received.

I think the name is
Australian Saw Company the web site is
http://www.austsaw.com.au
I've only purchased one blade which was excellent but it was not for your Makita.
That's a tool I would enjoy.
I'm sure by the time my workshop is kitted out completely they would have found a substitue for wood.
cheers

I gather we are talking about a compound mitre or a drop saw.
there are a number of good brands of blade
CMT form carbatec or timbecon are nice
othewise chat to your local saw seevice.
A good tip.
if you want a realy nice cut but you can sacrifice some speed have a go at an aluminium cutting blade 100 or 120 tooth give real nice cuts will little tear out.
I use a normal 80 tooth mitre saw blade and a 120 too aluminium blade & I sometimes cut wood with the aly blade with nice results.
cheers.
Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

I Purchased the same baby about 4 years ago when it came std with a Makita 100 tooth blade. Does terrific job on detailed mitres etc.
Also swap over with 8o tooth blade for less detailed jobs.
Only problem I have with unit is setting it up to achieve perfect square cuts.
(maybe I expect too much)
Regards, Rich.

Following Spbookie's post, I purchased the LS1212.
Currently, United Tools have the unit on special at $1199.
$1199 less Bunnings' 10% brought mine down to $1079.
I know Bunnings' at Nunawading have done an In-store price match ( down to $1195),
but if it is not statewide, the $1079 is a good price
