Makita router 3600BR, Thoughts anyone?
Hi.
I am a woodworking newbie.
I am thinking of buying my first real power tool, a used Makita router 3600BR.
Is there anything I should be aware of with this make and model. Makita seems pretty popular.
Are there specific questions I should be asking?
This is the body of the advert, and asking price is $350.

$350 is too much for a used 3600BR.
This would be the current equivalent of the 3600BR.

I have a 3600BR and they are a good router but I wouldn't pay more than $200 for one in good condition. Those were the droids I was looking for.

As noted, 350 is way over priced. Sticking in that size and power range is the way to go though for a versatile router. Makita make great routers...I have three.

price is wrong
The $350 includes a triton 2000 router table as well as the router so the the comments are not realy fair game. I have both the items mentioned and are twenty years old and have been faultless performers.

I have a Makita 3600BR - 30 years old this year - and still going strong. They are an industrial weight machine and virtually indestructable. Not quite as easily adjusted as newer models, but, did I say they are tough.
Use mine mainly in the Triton Mk 3 - works fine as a router and edge planer.
Free hand, it is a little heavy, and it is very "torquey" - really kicks and almost spins in your hands when you turn it on.
Guess it will be good for another 30 years!
