Default Meet the Bailey's - First look

Here is a picture of my set of Stanley Bailey planes.

    The set consists of #2C, #3C, #4C #4½C, #5C, #5½C, #6C, #7C, #8C. All are Type 11 (1910-1918) & have been refurbished.
I don't think I'll ever own a #1 as the price, for even an crappy one is prohibitive, mind you I'm still on the hunt for a #5¼C.

When I get my camera back from the camera doctors I'll take & post some better pictures.
    Cheers

    Major,

Maate, you are really getting distracted by these planes. Last year, we could count on you to produce a picture every month or two of some elegant piece of furniture that you had made. But, for the last few months, nothing but dark-side whiffling. When are you going to get a grip on yourself, and actually make something again?

Maj, a nice looking set. Something for us mere mortals to aspire to. I wonder if Sheddie will try to trump you? (Very difficult All Type 11's, Bugger!)

    Yo Studley,
No they won't just sit in a cabinet...... which I've yet to make. I'm in negotiation with a company to buy A2 blades for all the planes in one hit so they can be used.

Funny you should mention that David. I've got a few jobs on the go at the moment.

My dalliance with plane collecting is over for a while...... BUT if a #112 scraper plane comes up... NO!, NO!!, NO!!!... REMEMBER - "Self restraint".

Just think - he's going to have alot of sharpening to do when they all get dull at once!

Well - maybe M.P. isn't as slack as I am, and doesn't just reach for the next plane when one gets a bit hard to push, thinking "I'll touch the other one up before I go in for dinner.........

I do like that whole row of nicely-shaped Rosewood totes.....

    Cheers,

Looks like my signature on the bottom of the painting! Is it one of mine...
Very nice collection Major Sir. And to answer the other question, no I won't be emulating the Major. I have close to 40 planes from which I hope to create a useful and nice looking set. I don't have a 2 and will probably never get a 1.
After meeting a bloke with 1,401 planes the other day my enthusiasm for collecting them is about dead. I'll just concentrate on making something now. When the building job finishes I'm gonna cut loose in the shed (and finish the damn thing as well.
    Cheers

    Major,

That matched set is very impressive indeed, makes my motley collection look like land fill. It is a very neat row of shiney planes that make a lie of their age and the rest of us a tad green.
