    Default Metabo planer/thicknesser blades

I have a 300mm Metabo planer/thicknesser (ADH1630W). I love this machine (is that wrong?) It has a pair HSS blades. They need resharpening so I want to buy a another set of blades to have while the others are out of action. Should I buy blades with tungston in them or should I stick with the HSS? Any ideas where I can buy blades for this baby? Can I get cheaper generic blades or do I have to buy genuine?

    Cheers

I know this is bleeding obvious, but have you called Metabo?

Personally, I would stick with HSS unless you want to plane man made materials. HSS takes a keener edge than TCT.

I emailed Metabo TWICE in the past two weeks - no reply. Has anyone had experience with the 82% HSS/18% Tungston thicknesser blades?

I've got the 18% tungsten blades in my thicknesser. They take a good edge and most importantly keep it for ages. I believe one of the cheaper combination machines sold by carbatec is a Metabo copy, so it might be worth contacting them with the dimensions of your blades to see if they can supply.
