I've had my Metabo Duo a year, great little unit, doesn't miss a beat. I think they have (very) recently released an upgraded model with "Turbo" setting, so this is worth looking out for or maybe they'll run out the previous model cheaper? Forget Bunnings, they only stock Ryobi now ) I got mine on special last year from Gasweld in Dandenong South for $325 with 10 discs, they currently list it for $359 (https://ishop.gasweld.com.au/ishop/s.../600458190-MET) and may do you a deal if you find it cheaper elsewhere. The other place to try is Just Tools in South Melbourne, they list it for $385

I bought mine from Bunnings around 4 years. But they don't sell Metabo anymore. Metabo is not good enough for them. They have upgraded to GMC and Ozito.

While your at Bunnings, grab a Triton Workcentre. They are good. Trust me.

Thanks Acolyte, I'll see what the go on the turbo version is, failing that I'll go with the original plan of the SXE450.

Wongo, trust you? Surely you jest , my faith hasn't diminished in you old man. I'm contacting Nike for trademark infringement. Triton stuff? But why? The only orange stuff in my shed are Benchdog feather boards, nothing else. How does Triton stuff work, does it work?

Interesting to hear all the talk about Random Orbital Sanders - just a couple of things to keep in mind.
The higher the RPM, the finer the finish.
The larger the orbit, the more aggressive the cut.
The smaller the orbit, the finer the cut.

I notice that the Metabo Duo has a 3 mm or 6 mm setting, obviously for coarse and fine sanding.

TheSandpaperMan, you forgot to mention sand papers. 320 grits cuts finner. 80 grit cuts more aggressively

Theres another tool place on Mountain Hwy, head towards the city, up the hill past Bayswater station, over the rise and in a group of shops on the left on the downhill run, if you get to Stud Rd you've gone too far.
I can't remember the name of the place.
The one at Kilsyth Bargain Centre was owned by a tool shop that still operate in Richmond near Dimmeys, can't think of the name.
There is another tool place on Canterbury Rd between Dorset and Bayswater Rd, closer to Dorset.
I haven't lived there for a while and I'm sorry that I've forgotten the names, just recall where they all are.

Now here's a thought Sandpaperman...that's a mouthful, I'll make it SPM. You could sell ROSs and such at ridiculously cheap prices, and even cheaper to forum members because we are giving you the idea, and make your real profit on supplying the sandpaper replacements. A bit like the computer printer scam where the printers are cheap and you get suckered on the consumerables (ink).

Yeah, found them last night on the net in the wee hours, United Tools is their name. 608 Mountain Hwy, Bayswater. 6th left after crossing the railway line heading up the hill.

Had a look in there this morning spoke to a bloke there and ordered in a Metabo SXS450 Duo Turbo, has an oscillation of 2.8mm and 6.2mm, with 8,000 - 14,000 rev per minute as opposed to the SXE450 of 3mm - 6mm and 4,000 - 10,000. For a bit more I get more bang for my $. Currently $399 on special.

Looks like I've found a new place that stocks trade quality gear, not the Bunnies DIY stuff.

Good business that one , bought a few tools there and they'll order stuff in for you as well.
