MIK International - reliable?
All,
I ordered some product from MIK on 6-Oct.
They billed my credit card immediately and now I'm still waiting for the proiduct to arrive.
I contacted them through email and all I get is a response saying "we are waiting for the product to come in".... now their email address bounces.
Anyone else had a problem with them?
Thanks

I have had only pleasant experiences with MIK so far. HOWEVER, I would never deal twice with someone who charged my card before the actual shipping date. If I wanted to go into the loan business I would require more
than the promise of future delivery. I have been bitten once already as an unsecured creditor, never again.
Having had this little rant, I'd be surprised if you suffer anything more than the annoyance of the delay.

Never had any problems with them at all, in fact I would recomend them highly. (not affiliated)
Try ringing them during office hours, there may be a reason for the e-mail bouncing which they aren't aware of.

Only dealt with them once but it was a very positive experience. Bought a new toolrest for my lathe at the Brisbane WWW Show but they didn't have the post for it. They said they'd send it the next week and sure enough, it arrived in about three days.

Dealt with them for a number of transactions and found them to be OK.

Only dealt with them in the flesh, but have found them very helpful.

Money back Immediately
Gsouth,
I would be asking for my money back by telephone, Its difficult to support this type of trader if they operate like this. Did you ask what the delivery time was when ordering, could you have known that there would be big wait for your goods ? I have been stung like this with 2 other business houses unrelated to woodwork and will under no circumstance support them in the future.
My 10 cents worth

Guys,
the few things I have heard about MIK are good, BUT
they should not charge you until the item is shipped. This is the way Lee Valley works. I hope that all WW retailers will follow their example. This is only one of their many fine qualities.

I had a similar problem with MIK a few months, ie charge the credit card but don't have the product in stock to be able to deliver it. They came through in the end and were quite professional in dealing with the issue. Sad to hear it has happened again though. (

I got a call from MIK to say that they had the bevel guage I had asked them to get in for me. I paid nothing for that. It's taken ages and they gave me a call so seeing they are in my local area I dropped in on the way past yesterday. They had a bevel guage but not the Veritas one I was waiting for. Still coming. MMMM Seems like they have a bit of a shortage on some things particularly vertitas since before the SA WWW show.
They have been allright for me, I don't have any serious complaints about them

My experience with MIK has always been positive - both via mail order and at the shows. Gsouth, have you subsequently asked them (via phone if e-mail is playing up) why they billed you before shipping? Was it a part shipment?
