    Smile Minor gloat ...

I just happened to be down at my local Bunnies (Bankstown) looking for a handful of shellac flakes, when I noticed a lonely little GMC 190mm 1000w compound-mitre saw sitting on a palate, away from its buddies.

With the exception of a missing box, everything else was there -- tools, instructions etc. The only problem was that the power plug on the end had been badly crushed under the palate.

For $25 it was too good to pass up. I've bunged on a new plug on, and it goes like a beaut -- as beaut as a GMC can go, right? ;-)

It's nothing much to gloat about ... still, when a tool comes your way for half its normal price just because the plug is squashed, you gotta tell someone!

    Cheers,
    GW

    Thanks gents.

It's rare for me to get a really good find at a great price.

Today must be my lucky day ...

I have a friend who runs a local joinery business. I've never thought to ask him if he has spare scraps lying around. I gave him a call, and went around today, returning with a nice (free!) batch of Euro beech, American rock maple, Queensland walnut, bluegum and a beaut length of cherrywood.

He tells me it just sits around in his massive workshop collecting dust. He also told me they had a massive throw-out at the start of the year! (

Considering I've known him for 2 1/2 years, you would have thought I'd have twigged before now ...
