Miter Saw Laser Guide Question.

Hello,

Does anyone know of a Miter Saw Laser Guide that would fit a Bosch 12" miter saw? I just purchased a laser guide (manufactured by CEN-TECH, and sold through Harbor Freight Tools) and - though it stated that it would fit most 10" miter saws - I thought that I'd give it a shot on my 12". It bolted on easily enough, and seemed to be quite secure.....that is, until I turned my saw on. I didn't like the sound that the spinning blade made, which concerned me even moreso during spin-down. I detached it from my saw and went online to see about gathering some info on such a unit. It turned out that a couple of different manufacturers sell these units, and all of them look exactly the same as the one that I have by CEN-TECH. Unlike CEN-TECH, though, these manufacturers stated that the units would fit 12" as well as 10" miter saws - except for Bosch saws. I would really like to have a laser guide (if at all possible) on my 12" Bosch. The safety & expedience, derived from having such, makes (IMO) the $50 (or so) cost an easy price to pay. Maybe there's a manufacturer, that I haven't come across, who makes a laser unit for the Bosch line of miter saws. Or maybe someone has devised a way to retrofit one of these units on their Bosch saw. Any such info into either of these directions would be most appreciated.

I don't know a lot about them but Rockler carry one and they say it fits most SCMS's.

Sorry just noticed it doesn't fit the Bosch.

Hey all, just stumbled on this thread and even though it's a couple of years old i may be able to add some info that may help others.
I bought a laser guide that replaces the washer.Ipicked it up from bunnings and it said on the pack that it would fit most saws except the 12 inch makita.
Well i have a 10" makita so i thought i would give it a go.when i got it home and fitted it i too found that it was too wide to fit under the guard.
Mmmmm.what to do? it was rubbing on the guard stop.a small metal bracket that pushes the guard up as the blade goes down, and making a hell of a racket.
so i pulled out my trusty files,shaved of about 3mm,still more than enough to do the job it was designed for and presto it works!
Only prob now is the laser is so pissweak that it is all but useless when used outside wich is where 90%of its use is. Oh well. Does anyone know of another unit(the bunnings one is just cheap chinese)that has a good strong laser line?

The laserkerf will fit all Bosch, Hitachi, and Makita as well most other mitre saws. It does not attach to the blade so the blade does not have to be spinning to see the laser. check it out at www.laserkerf.com.

Just to let you know we've taken on the LaserKerf agency and will be able to supply in a few weeks, once our 240 volt power supplies arrive.

There are 3 models a standard kerf and a thin kerf. As highlighted earlier in this thread, these units are not blade mounted and the beam is 'on' whilst you're positioning the work, thus you have 2 hands available to position, set stops etc. With the beam being the exact width of the blade setting out is simple and the cut-off mark can be any side of the blade.
