Default Nail gun for lining boards

Hi, I have a lot of ceiling lining to do and need to get a nail gun and compressor. The boards will be pine 133x12. What gun, compressor and nail size is recommended? I am not a tradie or professional so something of reasonable quality and reliable, but not top of the range. Where is the best place to get them? I am in WA. thanks Spin

    G'day Spin,
Seeing you're fixing into pine what about just screwing them rather than nailing? A compressor is a handy thing but prices vary widely. I have a GMC 30 unit which runs my little nail/staple gun easily. Bunnings had another named compressor for about $150 recently.

Thanks Fritz, I reckoned a nail gun would be quicker. I see Bunnings do have an air nail gun but not knowing anything about it makes me a bit nervous about buying one, thats why I was hoping for some advice on the forums. I see on the forum some have mentioned Senco as a reasonable gun, so I might check eBay.

Another option is to buy a good airless gun designed for attaching lining borads
use it for this one-off job

and then sell the gun on ebay

the difference between what you pay retail for the gun and what you get back on ebay should be a lot less than what you would pay to hire a decent gun

Thanks Ian, I know nothing about these so when you say airless do you mean electric? Are there any particular models or makes you could recommend?

Search in eBay or Googling "collated screw gun", "autofeed screw gun", "Makita screw gun", you'll find plenty. Buy it, use it and then lend it to me, I also need one

I'm more making a suggestion for your consideration than recommending a particular gun ...

but, this "airless" gun Paslode 18Ga Impulse C1 TrimMaster Bradder (B20800)

    might be an option

I looked at getting an air nail gun a few years ago but eventually decided against it mainly because of the cost of buying a decent gun PLUS the compressor needed to properly drive it
