Nails for GMC Frame Gun
I've just picked a new GMC Frame Gun,
I don't know what type of nails/brads to use in it.
Can anyone give me some advice on a range of nails to use with (differing sizes), brands/model numbers etc
Regards
Waz

Errrmmm... which GMC framing gun?
The dox should specify which gauges/lengths it takes. IMHO you can't get better value for money than Paslode brand, usually available in Mitre10 and/or Bunnies.

Read the doco, that will state the range you can shoot. If its a framing gun then you usually need 18 gauge t Nails or brads. If its a loosely termed framing gun it may require 14 gauge. Pray it don't need 16 gauge cause Bunnies don't seem to sell them. Are you sure that it didn't come with a few?
Length within the maximum and min. is up to you.Bodgy

If its the ATFRGK framing gun they use a 34deg nail from 50-100mm,
BEWARE paslode / senco stlye nails are 30deg!!! they may not work or damage gun......

Thanks I have some 75mm 3.05, I believe the gauge 8-10, with that being 2.87 upto 3.X something...it fires anything from 50mm to 90mm
I'm probably now looking for something that is in the 50mm range. I couldn't really see anything at 50mm that looked as if it would fit.

Sounds like an interesting tool spatan . Wish I had a Bunnings nearby . How much did it cost ? Does it use a gas cartridge or powered by an independent air source . 'scuse my ignorance , I am from country Tasmania .

Sturdee - wish we could swap Bunnies. Mine is fairly large but doesn't compete with yours. Never could find the clips for the dusty hose you recommended either
Rick - go to www.Tradetools.com.au for nail guns. Cheaper and better quality than GMC. Mail order arrived in 3 days. Excellent to deal with. No nails tho I'm afraid.Last edited by Bodgy; 14th October 2005 at 11:06 PM. Reason: Addit

Actually within a 5 k radius I have Bunnings Mitcham ( a former Hardwarehouse store that has all the nails I need for all my nailguns ), Bunnings Nunawading which is twice the size of Mitcham and now the new Bunnings at Vermont South ( which is the latest and largest ) as well as a Mitre 10 megamart in Ringwood.
I feel sorry for you Rick seeing that you have none.

GMC framing gun nails
Check out your GMC tool au website. It includes listings and downloadable manuals in PDF for its tools. The manual describes the nails it takes. Heed the the warnings the bolkes here have given about the magazine angle. If you buy other than GMC nails make sure they are for a 34 degree magazine ramp angle, or they won,t be cheaper after all.
Best of luck wth it
