G'day fella's,
I have checked my 'small' chain and although it is a bit loose I doubt I could shorten it by a link - so going by what others have said it looks like they are meant to be slack.
Gumby - I agree that Axminster manual is bar far better than the one supplied with the machine.
Hope all your problems are now fixed Bob.Regards,

Sitting silently watching you poor buggers suffer, it's pretty amazing how the problems on my el-cheapo generic 12" thicknesser were identical.... chain jumping bearings gone etc.
Touch wood, the replacement bearings seem to be holding up, but I treat it pretty gently too! My chain was actually stretched, whether as a result of everything seizing after the bearing failure or not I don't know, but I bought a new pair anyway.
Hope all get repaired in due course.
Cheers,
P

The motor on mine just stopped today. I was running some 110mm oregon through in thicknesser mode and only taking off about 1mm at a time. It just died one one pass and after I dropped the table down , it kicked back into life. Then , after a few more passes, it died again, this time for good. I've taken off the cover and found it to be very hot inside, particularly the motor. I'll wait until it coools down to see if it's over heated. One of those rubber rings on the feed roller had come off too.

Gumby,
you're really in trouble now, no carport or coffee table when the better half gets home.

Well it must have been overheating due to the rubber ring coming off. I left it for an hour or so and finished the work just fine. Maybe there's a cut off / overload switch in it ? I don't know much about these motors
And Mick, I'm back in the good books........did the vacuuming while she was at work...........then went back to the garageIf at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Gumby, sure hope that you are not the first to introduce another challenge with this product. Mine has been working great since the bearings were replaced.

This one was $995 so I'm ok, mine was $895.
The rubber ring came off the again on the weekend and I was only running some pine through it. It's the outer one of the 2 rings on the large wheel which is engaged by the feed lever. I don't know why it does that. I put it back and ran it for a while with the cover off and it seemed OK. It was waitng for me to put the cover on before jumping off I think
Didn't somebody mention that there was a different wheel with a moulded edge. The guy at Carba-tec didn't know anything about it when i was there today. If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
