Yeah you really have to stick to 27mm hoses on the Mirka or you lose all the advantage of the compact package and actually end up worse off from having to fight the large hose. I tried a 36mm for a week and went back to 27mm, the extraction on the smaller hose is perfectly fine.
Handy tip for boosting extraction on it: take the pad off and put a narrow strip of sticky-back foam around the bottom of the black rubber shroud to seal the gap between it and the pad, this will keep all the air going through the pad where it's useful instead of being lost out the side. Don't worry if the foam is a bit thicker than the gap (in fact it's probably better that way), it will wear down to the perfect thickness with use.
As for the paddle switch, you either like it or you don't. I quite liked how I could vary the speed through the paddle as needed instead of having to use the buttons or a dial.

I am new to no dust sanding, got my mirka deros last week and am still looking for good affordable mesh disc.
I was playing with it earlier, after hand planed the board I used the sander on the board and cleaned up the dust the hand plane created i'll try not to do that on the workbench too often

The deros let me use 2 hands if i want to (small hands like mine), power box/ transformer is build into the unit that's why it's a bit bigger than the ceros.

26th March 2019, 11:53 PM #18Mirka Deros 150 - only got this recently but I like it. Very powerful, light and great dust extraction. I don't love the paddle switch and wish i could just get an on/off switch. The balance is also off with a 36mm dust hose and adaptor to make it fit and requires me to support the dust hose with one hand while sanding.
Quoting ...
A 4m long antistatic 27mm Mirka hose cost me $93 (AUD) on eBay UK, including shipping and import tax. That's 60% less than a 0.5m shorter Festool hose. The question is how do they compare?
Mirka on the left, Festool on the right ...
The only external difference is the Mirka tapers down for about 400mm from the end.
The bayonet ends are the same ...
In the case of the Mirka, this unscrews, which is easy peasy (unlike the Festool, which needs to be unclipped - do that several times and the pins are likely to break off) ...
The ends that connect to the vacuum cleaner are also the same ...
And the Mirka fits perfectly ...
Importantly, the hoses actually feel similar. If anything, I found the Mirka to have slightly better flexibility, certainly at the important end (which was no doubt aided by its taper) ...

Does anyone ever use their dust extractor (instead of shop vac) for their sander? Ie have it plumbed to the bench with a blast gate and just a step down adapter from the pipe to suitable hose?
