I'd say it was the 2 Bergs that forced the price up

You see this all the time.

Sooooo..... why doesnt any company put out good chisels anymore.
Owwhh they do, but it will cost an arm and a leg.

This is why the older chisel sell for what they sell for.

I was told a few years ago by some experianced person, who knew about old/antique items.

The average dill will argue about the price.
The person who knows what they are looking at will pay the price you ask with no questions.

I have found this to be true.

I have seen a bloke here at a local market trying to get $45 for a titan. He is there every week with his stuff and his prices are always a bit hire than others. He claims as an antique dealer he can justify his prices. Funny thing is I have paid no more than $5 for any titans I have bought from another bloke at a different stall.

Just discovered (today) that I have a 3/4 inch Titan chisel - had it for years - steel and handle in good nick - buggered if I know how to sharpen it. . . Came as quite a surprise. . .

I sold a 2" Ward for $38 on ebay, with split handle and some pitting, made this clear in the ad and the buyer was happy.

    Ah, the Universal question
'Whatever someone will pay' - the Universal answer.

Put it on Epay and hope that some fools who fancy it will taking the bidding personally as contest as to who has the largest willy.

the 1 1/2" Berg would fetch $50-60 on its own - typically they will go for $40-50 per chisel. One minty boxed set of 6 sold for $US610 recently. Good buy really.
