Thanks for the detail on your restoration, Ryan - well done! I have quite a few older pieces which I am slowly making my way to, so I am gathering up all of the experience available here on the forum before beginning my quest.
My appreciation of the older hand tools & equipment only came as I got a little older. Previously, if it wasn't shiny and new then it wasn't for me. How little I knew back then. Derek is right, by the way - I'd like to see your collection in 10-15 years. As you've already found, tool collecting can be an expensive interest. Still, there's worse things to spend your money on, and you will always recoup your investment on good quality, well maintained tools.Don't Just Do It.... Do It HardenFast!!

That's exactly what I tell people. I tell my friends when they go to buy a game as soon as money exchanes hands it depreciates in value just like that (snaps fingers). My stuff is an investment of sorts.
