My first piece of turning - Record T5 handle
Attachment 54159
It isn't very beautiful, but it is functional!
I used the vertical lathe doodad that you can buy for about $50 from McJing to go on a drill press and it made a fair job! My cheap as chips turning chisels worked ok. I have a lot to learn, but to replace things like Record T5 side handles, or to make file and chisel handles, this looks like the way to go!
It is lucky that Record used 1/4" Whitworth thread for the side holes for the T5 - it meant that I could drill a hole and use a 1/4" lag screw.
The picture tells you what the finish is!Cheers
Jeremy
If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well it were done quickly

Looking good i have done some pieces on the drill press so i know it requires a little more skill. The tote is a little harder to make, and drill.
Cheers Ron.
