Thread: Plastic nails delivered by a bradder

Yes I have had some for a few years. They are ok in soft wood but break in hard wood. I have some brads, about 12mm long and some 6mm staples. They are ok for building small boats out of soft ply. Not much sheer strength. You dont have to buy their guns as the cheap ones from Supercheap auto are ok. I think I had to file the mouth of the staple gun. about 4
$40 each instead of $200.

I also have the Raptor nylon nails. I use it to attach a spoilboard to a CNC deck....as I can then surface the board through the nails without damaging the router bit.

i use a cheap brad nailer but a bit hit and miss......really need the proper gun but as don't use it a lot it's OK.

there is a local distributor for Raptor in AUS.....can't remember exactly who as would need to search through my receipts....somewhere on NSW North Coast.

Well I guess depends what you need them for.....in my case they are great as well for boat builders, or others who don't want a nail that rusts...but as a replacement for general carpentry, no.
BTW they are quite strong as the nylon melts slightly as it is pushed into the wood so really depends on the application intended...
