Studfinder, Which one??
I need a stud finder, I've stretched the borrowing from mates too far. There seems to be a few to choose from, so what is peoples advice.
I require it to locate wooden studs and also plumbing pipes and electrical wires, and of cause not give confusing false readings.
ThankyouGeoffrey
I love work, it fasinates me, I could sit around and watch it all day.

Like lighting up when you point it at yourself ?
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hi
Try Acland St, StKilda.
The place is full of studs, mind you, they are all shirt lifters.
Cheers, Al

I normally use the oldfashioned way of knocking on the wall and listening for the difference in sound and then measure from that point to where I want to work.
Ofcourse this does not show where pipes and electrical wiring is but in my house I can easily find this out from the roof space or under floor areas and see where they enter the walls.
I noticed that Black & Decker has a new fancy studfinder available. This one comes with a laser wall level and appears to be working but is a bit pricey. I have not got one so I can't recommend it but it might suit your needs.
Hope this helps.
Peter.

I looked at the Stanley Intellisensor pro, shop blurb, but the mitre 10 I was in didn't have one to show off, has anyone used this unit?
I don't know why I so eager to have a unit that does electrical wires too, all I seem to have to do to find them behind the cladding is pick a spot on the wall, drill into it and 'whalla' - there's a wire:confused: guarrenteedGeoffrey
