Well I paid the standard airmail rate and it arrived in 10 days - pretty impressed since the quoted time was 2-4 weeks.

Here's a few examples, followed by a few rules of thumb....
Lbs.....Surface........Express................UPS EXpress
........(8-10 Weeks)...6-10 Bus Days........5-6 Bus Days
2...........$24.89...$39.63....$75.13
4...........$27.74...$45.72....$84.94
10..........$45.78...$74.19....$112.42
15..........$59.08...$96.23....$136.23
20..........$64.91...$110.00...$156.41
30..........$78.00...$138.98...$195.44
50..........$107.36..$194.52..$270.40
Here are some rough guidelines:
Surface is about $25 per order, plus about $2 per pound.
Express is about $40 per order, plus $3.50 per pound.
UPS Express is about $75 per order, plus about $4 per pound.
All figures in USD....there should sort of be three columns....
Hope that helps!

Thanks Rob, you are a champion.
I'd buy locally and support a local bloke, however the local outlets do not have all the stuff I want - how about a Lee Valley badged retail outlet over here in Oz?
You would be getting all my pocket money!
Sounds like a sound basis for any business decision.

Hey Rob...
Have you ever given thought to actually shipping your export orders from
the US? I'd buy a lot more from your outfit if I could pay US 19.00 for
A 4 lb Global Priority box.
Those GP packages arrive in 3-4 days. Last week I got a parcel from you which had a postage fee of 40% of the total. I'd rather spend $$ with you than Postes Canada Post.

Don't know the answer to that one - but will pass it along to those more in the know... ...it sounds like a good option!
Personally - I'd rather be shipping from Australia though ...
We're considering stocking Veritas product in Aus ourselves...to support your local dealers better, and to make the entire range available (not all Veritas product is carried by dealers....) It'd also make the retail prices lower....

Seriously, Tom Lie Nielsen has finally got a couple of guys here running his local outlet, and the prices have approximately halved. I have gone from no L-N planes to four. Two of those would have been L-V's if the price had been more realistic here.
Think of six month's of skating on the Rideau, then think of six month's surfing every year instead. Worked for me ;-)

True. You have to go to the seedier parts of Hull for that. Actually, we've got
a problem with foreign fisherman catching and de-finning our sharks, so no fins here either.
Actually- forget the surfing. Have you ever heard of cricket?

maaaaaate, you'll need some storage space/warehousing in a central location. Now Kuranda is very a central shipping point and I'm sure we can work out a mutually beneficial arrangement.

PS pay no attention to any knockers that may claim that Kuranda is not centrally located, I for one, find it is, just got to get all my favourite suppliers to see so also."If you need a machine today and don't buy it,
tomorrow you will have paid for it and not have it."

Thanks Rob!
Missed that earlier - but your guys in despatch are right on the job, so I don't have to worry about it

Rob,
A 'real' LV store here in Oz (Melbourne, of course ) would be great - so we could get our hands on the full Veritas range as well as the great range of other LV tools - and hardware.
Probably not realistic unless you could get the volumes, and the local resellers do try pretty hard. If you could persuade them to stock more of your range, though, would be a help...
Cheers from Oz

Shipping
My inlaws live in Coffs Harbour. I shipp things sea mail. they can take up to 12 weeks. They must take the long way around. One question. You sounded like you wanted to save money. If you have the time order from LV and save the money. If some of you can get an order togeether and give me the weight I can get a shiping bid that might be cheaper. I have a business and buy from LV from time to time. They ship to me FedEx or USP United Parsel Post which is not part of our government. they ship to Australia now so I have been told.
