    Default Powertool Tool Score

One of my brothers is moving so he had a bit of shed clean out and this is what he brought around.

The power tools are hitachi 1600W router and 235 mm circ saw. A 100mm bosch grinder, 8" Abbot and Ashby grinder with Linisher attachment, and a Festool ROS that needs a new pad.

But what really piqued my interest was this old vice

More details about the vice here.

Does anyone know how one goes about getting a replacement pad for the Festool ROS?

    Hi Bob,

Good score indeed. I like the 8" Abbot and Ashby grinder with Linisher attachment, that should be very useful for you in the metalshop. To buy all those new would put you back a packet.

Never heard or seen your vice though, looks a quality casting, and has support all the way back under the jaw tongue, nice and solid.

    Cheers

I knew my brother had that Festo ROS because I have used it before and it is indeed a nice tool to use but had no idea it was in the boxes of stuff he handed over to me.

I was hoping to have my new shed finished by the end of the year so I could host a BBQ but my extended travels and ongoing raft of health issues have stymied this plan. The latest thing I have is blood clots under my left knee!!! I have to keep quiet with my leg up and go for gentle short (10-15 minute) walks every couple of hours. When SWMBO goes out I sneak down the shed and clean up a bit and rearranged the fandanglers but I can't really do much more at the moment.

I'm sure that you will do this anyway, but just a quick heads up on the Hitachi saw. Unless you are going to use it in a Triton saw table, I would remove the cable tie on the trigger immediately in case you forget later. It will come on as soon as you turn on the power otherwise - could be nasty.
    Love the vice.

    Hey Bob,

We have a Festool and 2 Makitas at work, the Makita pads fit the Festool and they are cheaper,
