Question time for the owners of twelves inchers
Good evening all, having recently acquired a new saw complete with a beautiful slding table. All is well I hear you say...but I have hit a snag:eek: , unfortunately my well sorted dado set has a 5/8 spindle hole and our new saw has a 30mm arbour, can't have them reamed, not enough meat on the centre bits, therefore I am asking, nah pleading where one buys the adapter extension that Gumby mentioned last year( or was that the year before?? oh well there's a few words for that condition) to suit the MBS300/ ST12 family of saws.
Fire away my friends(Gumby feel free to reply anytime).Bruce C.

The 5/8 spindle for the mbs300 is a slip in bolt up part ( aparantly ). check the usual suspects who stock them.
some one did saythey got one no problem.
cheers
ps
its a nice machine eh.
Check the size of that motor:eek:

Thanks Soundman, that motor is awesome, and I kid u not today I actually had to replace the 5hp 415, with the 3hp 240, the 415 is HEAVY
almost slip a disc sorta weight, and the new 240 is physically exactly the same size but "only" weighs about 2/3rds the weight but is still a handful to replace by oneself. And if that is a true 3hp all my other "3hp" haven't been at all
Absolutely amazed by the sliders action it is sooooo smoooth.
I do so love this saw tho' everthing so far is spotton and reeks of good QA.
I'll try H&F and the rest tomorrow, see what further damage I can inflict on the families savings plan .Bruce C.

I don't think there is one from 30mm down to 5/8. Best is to buy the right dado set.

name change
on a completly unrelated matter.
hey spotty
are you going to change your name to "Corymbia Citriodora, sub-spicies Variegata" in accordance with new botanical practise or stick with the E' Maculata tag.

Listen Mr Soundman ( ) I have never & will never subscribe to the Yank inspired name change of Eucalyptis Maculata, not bluddy QLD Lemon scented gum or Corymbia anybleedin thing:eek: , corymbias are Bloodwoods & apples not Gums:confused: , besides I have it on really good authority the Taxignomes are giong to change it back to it's original E designation
But thank you for the concern anyway
(Just in case any idjit thinks I was actually having a shot at the esteemed Soundman, I'm not, but I do dislike Yankee taxignomists who mess with OUR botanicals)Bruce C.

I was not aware that the various name changes were a sepo attack on our sovreign botanical heritage.
However I thaught spotty was a eucalipt so who's mucking with the genius.
BTW it is my opinion that spotted gum is one of our most noble timbers (not the prettiest) and prety damn usefull.
I could see that some may argue that its not a gum (nn nn nnn) but spoted eucalipt would be OK.
I know the wood is prety pungent when first cut but, lemon. I have dozens here about & I've never thaught that it remotely smelt of lemons ( or other citrus ) in any form living or dead. It smells like a B***y eucalipt.
BTW where does the "maculata" come from.

Crikey, Soundman I'll actually go into serious info mode (sorta what I do for a crust, know stuff about wood ) Some of the Qld Spotted gum is really Citriadora (either E or C depends who's winning the genius genus war ATM)or sometimes known as Lemon scented gum, really difficult to spot the difference for the average layperson. Although when I was involved in such activities as a field person, we noted at least 17 different and seperate charactered spotted gum types (never officially) in NSW. The timber properties vary greatly as does the colour range, hardness, growth rates, millability etc etc.
And the Maculata is I believe Ye olde Latin for "of Spotted appearance or outer"
ergo the "Spotted Eucalypt"
I will beg to differ on the Euc/Gum thing, as I trapse through the bush, to me the definitive Euc Gum in appearance, form, leaf shape, flowering, smell, resinous excretion, is me old mates.Bruce C.

Soundman,
like Bruce says, "Maculata" is Latin for "spotted", our word "immaculate" meaning "unspotted" comes to us from Latin.

Bruce I remember someone trying to sell a 30mm CMT dado set. Have a look in the Buy and Sell forum. Then offload your 5/8 set.
