Default Ratchet screwdrivers - how to fix

I got a heap of old cabinetmekers screwdrivers off ePay lately. In the lot are 3 of the ratchet type screwdrivers, 2 of those are "Turner No116" and the ratchet mechanism is broken.

The are the ones with the 'cylinder' under the handle, surrounding the screwdriver shaft - has the three positon selector for fwd, reverse & lock both ways.

The ratchet needs fixing and 2 things spring to mind:
    1. I've never seen the guts of one before, and
    2. the cylinder is a closed unit and I can't see how it gets removed to give access to the guts.

Anyone fiddled with one of these?

A bit like the attached pic, but without the arcimedies twist down the shaft.
    Cheers,
    Clinton
