Replacing a 12inch saw blade
Hi guys I am replacing a 12 inch saw blade on my Bosch pull down saw. The new blade I have is an alternate brand that comes with a different size center and two push in washers that fit the machine spindle.I forget their correct name of these washers, but they are like a sleeve that takes up the slack.
I can push these in but they can come out.
Obviously I want to get it right due to the (dangerous) high speed they rotate at.
My question is, how are these two washers normally fixed in place?
Are they lightly welded, or is a steel epoxy glue used?
Or is a high pressure fitting required?
In anticipation, thanking you kindly.

.
The bush/spacer normally just push into the blade and are held in place by the flange and nut once fitted to the saw.

yes they are called a 'bush'.
Most of them fit really tight. Chances are if it is loose, it is dangerous. Some hardware stores have a little box of them of all different sizes. You could take the sawblade in to check.

i have in the past on my table saw inserted the bush washer into the arbour hole and used sticky tape over the bush washer to hold it in place while I do up the nut. I didnt have any play or anything but it was "just" loose enough to fall out of the arbour hole to make it a PITA to install. hence the sticky tape.... I used a wide piece on either side of the bush washer then trimmed the excess off with a stanley knife. worked well, sticky tape is so light that it doesnt affect the balance at all.

It should be ok as long as the flanges on either side of the blade are larger than the hole in the blade. That way nothing can come loose. If this is the case give the saw a run and check for vibration. If it passes this test then it should be fine to go.

Use super glue to hold the bushes in the blades permanently. Dont have to grope around under the saw, or in the blade well, looking for the one that dropped out as you fitted the blade. Easy to knock out when you finally give up on the blade.

BarrieThis bit should be completely ignored, although I know that despite this warning, you will read it through to the very end.

dont use it, take it back & get the right one for your tool.
if your flanges are dished it can fall into the gap, then the blade will run out of centre & can be very dangerous. ive seen a saws blade case cut right through because of this problem.

There can be slight differences in bushes that are theoretically the same size. Take the blade to a saw doctor or to carbatec and they will find you the correct size bush by trying a couple. They aren't expensive.Graeme

That actually was the case, a slight difference in the bush size, but enough for looseness and or danger. As suggested on this forum, I took it to a saw doctor and he got me the correct one, a snug fit and hammered it in, all for a couple of bucks. Once again these forums are a pathway to new knowledge and assistance. Thank you all!
