There are tabletop vices that are held in place by large suction 'plates'. Haven't used one myself, but would probably suit an apartment dweller.

I have a small 4" vice for odd jobs that I mounted on a piece of timber so I can clamp it to a benchtop.
Perhaps something along those lines, or there are small clamp-on vices that swivel on a ball joint allowing access to all sides of a workpiece.

    Sent from work most likely.
Aldi have them quite often - choice of two types : suction or clamp. I got both, they work well and as usual, cheap - 15 bucks.

Yeah, I like the vise on the ball joint. I may do some sketching. I'm trying to come up with something in my head that I could mount this all in, still have room to work, semi-portable, that'll catch the debris for easy clean up! I'm thinking something involving a Rubbermaid tub...we'll see where this goes!

If using a Dremel or similar, dust will go everywhere. Instead of or as well as a Rubber Maid tub, think vacuum cleaner for dust extraction. Do you have a spare room?

No, that's why I was trying to figure out something else. I may go as far as a make-shift dust...hood. maybe rig up a clear Rubbermaid tub/lid so I can see through it, and have everything contained inside. Like a sand blasting station almost?

It's well worth investing in a small dust extractor to connect to your dust hood. Much higher volume than a vacuum cleaner. Mine's a 500cfm and does a reasonably good job. Even so, fine wood dust travels a long way in the air, into every room, so you'll have to get used to regular mega-cleans. Dust even sticks to the walls.
I don't work indoors much any more for that reason. Even my PC is full of fine wood dust. If you have a porch, verandah or similar, it's worth working there.
