Ryobi ROS
I recently bought a ryobi ROS (like this on, http://www.nailed.co.nz/DIY_Projects_698.aspx (bottom of page)) and no matter what i do, it puts semi-circular gouges all over the work. These are the kind of marks i owuld expect from a 1/3 sheet orbital, not an ROS, which i would expect to leave a reasonably smooth finish.
My question is, is this unit not working correctly or did i expect too much of the unit?

marks in work
couple of questions what grade paper are you using to start with because ROS
by their nature will leave swirl marks in your work (finer paper ) less marks or you will have to fork out for one with smaller orbits some have only 3mm orbits against most with 8-10mm orbits or even larger check also that machine is orbiting and not fixed most have this feature and you have to set it
hope this helps AJ

Dont lift it off the work until it stops spinning and see what happens.

I bought an Arlec from K-mart about 5 years ago, it hasn't failed me yet and doesn't leave any marks at all. If the paper is clogged up, this can cause scratches. If your paper is clean, try going from a course grade paper down to a finer grade paper as someone else suggested.
