To sand parquetry floor corners?
Good afternoon guys I need some expert opinion about what sander wil be suitable for finishing corners in parquetry floor I got the floor sander OK for a first timer I was told it was a great job but I need to fishing the damn corners of the room i wonder what sander to use as I need a tool with enough grunt to do the job Fein is OK to do some light detailng and Makita orbital sander 115 paper is good for lines alongside aluminum but none does a good job when it comes to corners.
I noticed there is a detail sander at Bunnings for $119 but I do not know how it will perform otherwise it would be a waste of money.
Has anyone used any good tool that you can recommend please?
Thank you in advance

(a) Festo DX93 has the coarsest orbit of all deltas. Yes it's both expensive & slow, but delta sanders are best for concave corners. Extremely coarse papers available for this unique pattern too: 24g??
(b) Bosch GDA 280 is second best. Whilst it has a smaller orbit, it's much better value & in my opinion 95% as effective as above. More power as well. Unlike above, the papers are readily available everywhere at much less expense & from a whole variety of manufacturers. More alternative heads & fingers available for this sander to reach into ridiculously inaccessible places than just about any alternative too, not that that's applicable for the job described.
(c) Festo RO90DX rotex is a versatile, ridiculously expensive alternative that may actually save you time. Use heavy 90mm dia papers in (Rot)ary mode & smoother papers in (Ex)entric mode. This will take care of most of the untouched concavities, with a final touch of an assortment of Delta heads & papers in orbital mode to reach right into those tight places.
(d) Metabo SX-E 400 (80mm) is a slower, smoother operating & much less expensive alternative to (c) for cleaning up those concavities within the reach of its 80mm diameter eccentricity. Used in combination with a delta sander it makes a much more economical alternative to the Festo Rotex.
Orbital or linear sanders (with the exception of Delta heads) are a bit of a liability in corners. Much too "old school" slow and vibratory, they simply lack the ability to reach right into corners to smoothly abrade substrate.
Likewise the "Fein" style of oscillating sanders and their modern clones and copies are also woefully slow for big jobs by virtue of their circular oscillations of a mere few degrees.Sycophant to nobody!

Sorry i can't recommend a sander, but if no skirting is involved and skirting is going to be fitted afterwards i would go for a belt sander with the appropriate grade of paper. if skirting is already there you would be best going for a detail sander ? If this is the only job you will be using it for i would go for as cheap as possible...Ozito ??

Where you got (perhaps hired) the larger floor sander from will likely have specialist sanders for the edging. They look like a large chrome coloured orbital sander designed for doing the edges just as you want; their only designed purpose.
My experience has been where you find the large sanders you find these. Return & ask.
