Default Sanders - Bosch GET 75-150

Does anyone have any hands on experience with this particular rotary sander? There are similar looking Bosch sanders that have gotten high praise and one Australian review for this model that also speaks well of it. But one review is not a large sample size. The only retail outlet in Australia appears to be Blackwoods now though I imagine Total Tools could potentially order it in, so no way to get some hands on experience with it either it seems.

Basically more holes means better dust extraction.
A total of 5 holes each 1/4" diameter is approximately 1 1/4" less sandpaper surface in action.
I have a generic look alike sander and the long handle is nice and requires a little practice using the 2 hand design. Its about balancing the tool when using it. I have found myself using the Milwaukee orbital sander with a palm grip more.

I think that that is a good sander. Maybe watch a review of other geared/RO sanders as well.
The makita version of that type Is apparently rubbish.
I own the festool brushless 5mm 150 ex none geared sander and it us also good.
One thing I will add is that whatever quality unit you use an often overlooked concept is the amount of suction.
In my opinion you really need variable suction capability.
Too much suction will apply too much pressure on the pad and the grit and dust be ground into the timber.

You mean the Makita BO6050J? I have one. It's fine.

I stand corrected, I have no personal experience just on the comparison reviews of geared sanders.
    Thanks for the correction.

I found a couple of Aussie youtube reviews which are favourable...

I've bought my Bosch tools through De Rossi Industrial in Sydney for 30yrs, maybe worth a phone call!

Thanks for the links Crowie, the JND design one was the favourable review I mentioned, good to see a second unsponsored review. I should probably have added that I'm most interested in the rotary/geared sanding effectiveness and dust collection. I've got other ROS for finish sanding and less aggressive tasks. I'm looking at the GET 75-150 and the Rotex 150... Easy enough to get hands on with the more expensive Rotex but the GET 75-150 is like a rare beast in Brisbane. Which is a little bit annoying since it sounds like it's a great machine.

I did forget to mention that one unusual problem I had with a high speed orbital sander. The Velcro hook and loop at high speeds would eventually over heat and melt and lose its ability to grip a sanding disc.
My round pad material was solid enough to carefully power sand the pad smooth on sandpaper glued to a flat board. Then purchased heavy duty replacement self adhesive Velcro.

Well I bit the bullet and got the Bosch GET 75-150 over the Rotex 150. It's not listed on the Total Tools website but I managed to find one at Total Tools East Brisbne, the display model is left if anyone wants to try and wrangle a discount from them.

    Thanks for posting.
After watching videos of the sander you chose it will sand fast.
I usually get extra backing pads and common parts the brake ring just in case production stops or parts become obsolete.
Update: I tossed a question in polls and survey random orbital sanders vs card scrapers and got some very interesting replies.
Anyhow your post got me looking at several brands of modern random orbital sanders with improved dust control.
    I watched several tube videos.
Trying not to waste too much money and get the most quality for my money.
I looked deep into the parts lists of 3 sanders. The newer GEX34-6N vs ROS65VC-5 (The part list differences I noticed and may not be 100% accurate. Armature, backing pad, contact strap, name plate and fan). ROS65VC-5 vs ROS65VC-6 (one has a suppressor box)
I chose a brand new older model ROS65VC-5 Bosch random orbital sander with an orbit radius of 5/64" or 2 mm. It should produce an excellent finish.
My ROS65VC-5 sander is brand new sealed in its box (until I opened it) and was clearance priced at $159.00 plus another 11% store discount.
The ROS65VC-5 is being replaced by another similar model GEX34-6N with improvements costing approximately $269.99 USD.
Customers and parts tech department imply the ROS65VC-5 is a very dependable model.
I will say that this sander right out of the box is very quiet and purrs like a cat. It has very low vibration and should be good for both the hands and wood finish.
I do believe that the sanders weight with proper grit will be enough just guiding it on the wood surface letting the sander do the work.
A few smaller light weight cheaper plastic body sanders just don't perform well and additional pressure usually melts the backing pads hook and loops and eventually the friction ring or brake.
I believe it will definitely be worth the money.
I wish had purchased this sander model a long time ago.
I almost purchased the another famous brand for $90.00 but there were some low reviews about issues of sanding disks flying off and the need to replace backing pads too often.

Woodhog - I've got the Bosch GEX 125-150 AVE which I believe is the international/Aussie model of the USA's ROS65VC-5. It is a fantastic sander, mine came with 5" and 6" backing pads. I have since upgraded, with upgrade being a loose term here, it is an excellent sander however, which is probably why I haven't sold it yet.

Regarding the GET 75-150 (GET 75-6N in the USA), it is fantastic. I'll likely post more about it after a bit more use but so far it is what I wanted it to be, an aggressive sander that has better handling than my belt sander and MUCH better dust collection than the belt sander.

Hi WH and A. I too have the same Bosch sander. Great machine but I have had to replace the 5"pad, the discs stopped sticking to it. Very little vibration

MA are you using mesh discs with a pad saver/interface pad or just regular paper?

That is excellent news to hear that your 75-150 (GET 75-6N in the USA), is fantastic.
Bosch does have a great selection of modern power tools.
I noticed the orbit radius differences or features of a few models.
The ability to select a custom orbit radius is great when working with certain materials. It shows they really care about their customers needs.
    ROS65VC-5 2.0 mm. GET 75-6N 4.5 mm. GET65-5N 2.25 mm
I'll be purchasing the GET 75-6N a little later.
When the local hardware store has an upcoming holiday sale or store coupon for $15-20 off $100 or more. OR their 12 months interest interest free on purchase of $299 or more using their store card.
My ROS65VC-5 was the last sealed box on clearance.
So it was get it right then or totally lose out on any savings.
    A new GEX34-6N would cost approximately $249.99 - $269.99(approximately $100.00 -110 more).
I just purchased 3 genuine backing pads for my Bosch ROS65VC-5 They were on a close out price $10.79 USD each.

Hi A. Paper backed. Either Makita, Norton or Flexovit (whatever's available really)
