Thread: Scheppach Plunge Track saw

Just by chance, this saw was reviewed in the current AWR. Have a browse at your local newsagent.

The only gripes they had were that it was slightly underpowered, and there was an issue with the rubber anti-splinter strip on the guide which could move around.

Probably worth the saving over Festool/Makita for light use? I wouldn't expect the motor/bearings of Scheppach gear to survive long in a trade application !

Main thing you would have to look at is back up service & spare parts. We had the Makita & festool saws in stock, the festool ratio would be around 50 sales of festool to one of Makita. The only reason we kept the Makita one in stock was so customers can do a direct comparison side by side. Most customers comi g in to buy the Makita then bought the festool when they compared them

i have the makita, its a great saw, has more power than the festool, and i am happy with it.

the makita is made in the UK, so the quality is there.

it does not have a riving knife, something to keep in mind.

That is a brave statement.

Having owned at least 3 British made cars I would take that with a grain of salt

i didnt say they were made by landrover..................

but the quality is up there.

looking at the bosch. they all look to be an incarnation of each other.

the Mafell looks to be the best.

here is a useful bit of actual feedback from someone who purchased a Grizzly Track Saw (made in the same factory as the Scheppach and practically the same saw).

The amount of tuning that the purchaser had to do to the Grizzly track saw is very off-putting.
The conclusion I've come to is that the Festool,Makitea, etc track saws have a high cost because of the quality of manufacturing care that has to go into them to make them cut accurately and last over the long haul.

Hi,
Marc at the Woodwhisperer web site did a review of the Grizzly track saw (identical North American version of the Scheppach) and accurately positioned it as the Toyota of track saws, not the Lexus or Mercedes.
