I have an reasonable collection of 18V Mak gear, all bought in from the US about a year before they started to list it on their local site. About 2 years ago I also bought a 12V Tool Pro kit from Supercheap Auto while they had a promo running, drill, driver, 3/8 drive rachet, 3/8 drive rattle gun, torch, 2 x 2AH batteries and charger. Also bought a second charger, another 2AH battery and a 4 AH battery at the same time. Total cost was a little less than the regular cost of the kit, and they offer different kit combos as well as stand alone skins. They are not as refined as my 1st generation 18V LXT gear, but reliable and more than capable of medium duty work, and replacement batteries don't cost more than the original tool/battery/charger did.

Have had some ALDI Taurus gear while my main set was in storage, a 12V drill, 2 batteries, charger cost about $50 for the kit on store clearance, one battery died at 15 months, tracked down replacement from Aldi's supplier but they wanted $79 each for a 12V 2AH battery. Also bought an 18V drill, driver, 2x 4AH batteries, charger and case for about $150, as we were starting to fit out new house and assemble furniture. Spindle brake release issues with the drill, died after drilling about 90 2mm x 15mm deep holes, applied for warranty replacement but the supplier could not source either individual drill or kit, so returned to Aldi for full refund with return authority from supplier. So far no issues with the Trade Pro kit and it has done a reasonable amount of work, both mechanical and woodworking.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

I ended up getting the bosch 12v drill and impact driver set. While getting the impact too wasn’t my first choice the bundles are so much cheaper than getting say 2 drills and battery and charger that it made no sense to not get the impact. Having said that, the impact is much more usable in the shop than the big 18v makita, so I have been using it a fair bit, even on soft woods.

All in all, quite happy with the bosch.
