Default Sliding compund mitre saw stand

Our local mitre 10 have just received a shipment of Stablemate mitre saw stands that look like this
    http://stablemateonline.com/mitersaw..._features.html

Its only $139.00 and seems to be way better than the comparably ozito model in terms of lightness.
Does anyone have one and what are your comments ? Are they retailed anywhere in Australia as our mitre 10 seems to think that they cant get the accessories like extra mounting brackets or extension parts.
    cheers

Lighter is not always better. Not sure you would want to go for a "lighter" model than the ozito in terms of stability and build.

I have the Ozito type one I got from Carba-tec for $130 at the WWW show last year. It is rather heavy but stable. I use a Makita LS1013 sliding compound saw on mine and I am happy with the combination. The only complaint is the limitation of the extension widths. This comes up more when you are working with long sticks on framing timber that when furniture making and the like.

The Fulton one is still heavy at about 18kg.

If I could have justified it I would have bought the Dewalt stand ($399). It is light and extended out a lot further than the Chinese stands.

I must say though that at $139 for a US made tool it seems really good value.

    Hello Jock

I can't comment on the quality of the stand you are considering but endorse the comment about the Dewalt stand. Mine is standing up to daily use in onsite work and is in MHO value for money. Bill

I had a look at the ozito model in the local bunnings. It wasn't set up and it was difficult to get the extensions out. Can anyone tell e the overall width between the extensions. It seems to be limited because the extensions are dual railed and meet in the middle of the stand. The stablemate model has about 3.5 metres because they are single railed and extend from either side of the main frame. Does anyone know the weight of the ozito model. It took two of us to lift it off the stack of boxes it was on?
    Cheers

The ozito style one is not that heavy really. I know for a fact that my wife can lift it and she's 5.0ft nothing and pretty small all round.

You're right about the extensions being limited because they join in the middle. In this regard the Dewalt stand kicks butt. The Fulton one would appear to be a better design so far as extensions are concerned.

Where the Dewalt really stands out is in how you can add extra supports and use them as stops, great for when your doing lots of repetitive work like studs and noggins.

The Ozito is cheap and will do the job. But this really is a case of getting what you pay for. If you will use it a lot then $399 is not a lot to pay. But I do it too infrequently (go out on site that is) to justify it. But I wont say no to one if its offered to me.

Like I said before $139 seems cheap for the US tool and I would buy that instead of the Chinese one I have. At that price, you haven't got that much to lose anyway.
