Recommendations for a Detail Sander
Hi All,
I have some rusty steel windows that I need to repair and paint. I'm looking to get a small "detail sander" (as they're called) to help with the rust removal. I need something with a "point" as it has to get into the corners.
Any recommendations?
Cheers!

I have a dedicated corded delta sander that I bought to do similar work on wood windows. I bought this long before the modern generation of battery tools. The good thing about the dedicated sander is that dust collection actually works.
The other option is a delta sander attachment on a multitool. You can get cordless multitools in all of the major brands. Buy the one that comes from your brand of batteries.
Multitools work well as a detail sander but dust collection is probably not there or works poorly.

I would say that a multi-tool with a "finger sander head" is your best bet these days.
This is because multi-tools have a narrow cylindrical body so this makes them able to get into corners more easily than the modern shaped detail sanders and you have better visibility to see how your sanding is going.
Dust collection is crap but that is true also for most detail sanders unless you can attach a vacuum hose to them.
A "finger sander head" refers to the optional sander head common to many detail sander kits. This was a variation of the standard triangular or delta sanding head which has a long (2 to 3 cm) narrow protrusion out of the front; the protrusion normally has velcro on it for attaching a narrow strip of sandpaper.
