Studfinder, which one?

I was unsure which forum to put this in, I tried first in the Home Improvements but had received no responses, so rather than creating a same second thread, follow the link and add comments to the other one created earlier. Thanks for any advice.Last edited by geoffbarker; 15th August 2003 at 04:41 PM.

Geoff,on one of the stands today at the Perth WW show there was a Black and Decker Laser stud finder all done out in the old orange livery similar to what the B&D tools used to be.
Just another option to check out.
Try a search for B&D

Orange livery
That would be the orange livery they came out with in the seventies when they started making crappy home handyman stuff instead of the old alloy case tradesmans stuff wouldn't it? Never ceases to amaze me that manufacturers think they can sell more product by using the name of a good product (ie early B & D) to sell something markedly inferior. You'd think they would bring out a second brand if they wanted to target a different market segment, to avoid lessening the value of the original brand.

I picked up a Stanley Stud finder recently for work. It was an impluse buy with the display being on the counter, but it was only $20 or $30 and sort of had a mobile phone size & shape to it than a usual stud finder. Anyway, two shop fitouts latter and this thing works better than expected and has completely replaced the old expensive one we had. From memory I think its called the Stanley Intellisensor...could be wrong with that name though..Might not do what you want though..
