My Makita M9400G doesn't have mounting holes

Where are the holes on the 9404?

Just below and to the right of the makita label
They are centered left and right from the motor above.
And centered on the rollers left and right. Thanks,

So you are thinking of purchasing the Makita accessory cradle that allows a 9404 to be mounted upside down as a linisher.
It might be easier just too make your own cradleregards from Alberta, Canada

Yes I am building my own cradle.
I just want it to be more secure.
My M9400G comes with a "Step" for inverting.
Inversion Bracket sounds better.
I'm building a three position stand.
I one I found is for the 9404 which has the mounting holes already.
Even if I did drill the mounting holes,
the 3" build out for the mount looks really bulky.
As I'm trying to leave spacing for the vents.

A simpler design for the other side using the step for inverted mount.
If I'm going to tap holes I might as well do 4.

Same question I guess.
Safe to drill tap 4 holes and secure with screws in this material?
The 4 screws won't be used to secure a grappling hook to support my weight.
Its just to keep it in place while the motor is running.
The full weight of the sander will never be on the tapped screws.
Any thoughts on the strength of the material?
Not blocking off any vents.
But heat disipation where metal touches wood reducing heat sync effect? Thanks,

It might be simpler to piggy-back some of the existing screws with standoffs and longer screws. You appear to have three assembly screws in the handle and another directly below the motor. Together, these would give you a wide stance for stability. I'd make each conversion one-at-a-time so that everything doesn't fall apart.
