C-Tec 10" HD contractor saw??????
As I can see everyone agrees that TSC 10 HB is good saw. I saw it in the shop and I couldn't find anything wrong but the motor. Just (for me way, way tooooooooo big) definitely no need for 3 HP. As long as I do woodwork never had anything bigger than 2 HP and never needed anything bigger.I personaly think sharp thin blade will do better than dull and thick one and use lot less energy (if I was wrong tell me and I will kill myself )Anyway as I am still on the market for the table saw, and gathering experiences of the smart people I would like to hear from you
1. Does anyone have Carba-Tec 10" HD contractor saw?
2. Is this reliable saw?
3. Can I fit a dado blade on the arbor or not?(the kid in the shop didn't know)
4. Have you ever had any problemes and if so which ones and would you by this saw again or not?
I am probably on the market for the saw that shell (should, will or would??????)do me for the rest of my life, so give me a good advice othervise I'll remember you , just joking
Beforehand greteful

I have a Hafco version which has a 1.5hp motor, I have cut 2" x 6" Karri (the WA red stuff, not the pine) without it pulling up.
Just feel your way when feeding the timber.
I have cut many kilometres of tassy oak and melamine MDF and it hasn't missed a beat, quiet running, fence isn't too bad but don't abuse it.
I had a dado set which did fit, I just never used it as I have a router table set up and prefer this.
Mine is a belt drive with dust extraction port that works well enough with the 1hp dusty.
You will need to make a zero clearance insert if you want to run dado.
I suspect these saws are badge engineered but I am quite happy with mine, I was on a budget at the time but now it is tuned I am reluctant to upgrade to a bigger saw, I do use CMT blades and feel that this makes a big difference to the crappy blades supplied (you could also use Freud or similar with the same result).
The table is solid cast iron, heavy, takes about half a day to assemble and set up properly, read align table extensions properly, a bit fiddly but only a once of excercise.
As for power consumption, a 3hp is not going to cost a lot to run when you consider how long it is on for, it's not as if you are running a saw for hours at a time, probably only a few minutes a day, if that is your main consideration I would certainly not pass up a TSC10HB.
I just had a look at the carbatec website and the saw looks exactly the same as mine, although I have the sliding table version.
Have a look at HAFCO too, you might be able to save a few of the hard earned $$$$$$$$$$Last edited by Iain; 28th January 2007 at 09:03 AM. Reason: power consumption and crap spelling

Huuuuuuh. That was to the core. Thank you very very much.
By the way, it is not an electricity consumption that bothers me but another power line that would be required to go to the shed as the only one of 16A is there and if I have 1.5 HP table saw and 1 HP dusty I would be marginaly O.K. but 3 HP and 1 HP dust collector would definitely require upgrade of the power lines, and that goes, with the price of the table saw far beyond a budget I am within. If that was my job or bussines I wouldn't think twice, but only as a weekend warior........ definitely no.
Anyway thank you once again
